04/02/2010 - Internationally Acclaimed Professor Confirms Atten

Professor Rita Jordan, OBE has confirmed her attendance as keynote speaker at The Wessex Autistic Society’s annual autism conference on 10th March which is expected to see demand increase significantly for limited places at the Conference.

Professor Jordan has written about and researched many aspects of autism and has been involved in training events, consultations and conferences all over the world. She was Chair of the Children’s Services National Autism Accreditation Service for 10 years. She has served on national and international task forces (most recently in Northern Ireland) and working parties to review evidence and offer advice in relation to Autism Spectrum Disorders

As well as her impressive credentials of having attained a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science degree, a Master of Arts degree and a PhD, Professor Jordan was also awarded an Office of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to Special Needs Education in 2007.
Her publications include 17 books (with 16 translations) 50 papers and 43 chapters in edited books. She has served on national and international task forces and working parties to review evidence and offer advice in relation to autism. She was consultant to the Expert Committee on the Education of Children and Young People with Autism for the Council of Europe (2003-2006).
Professor Jordan comments, “I am delighted to have been invited to attend The Wessex Autistic Society’s conference. Anything I can do to increase understanding, offer support and raise awareness of autism I am more than happy to do.”
Appearing at The Wessex Autistic Society’s ‘Inclusive Education’ conference being held on 10th March, Professor Jordan’s appearance is expected to increase demand for limited places still available at the event. Taking place on Wednesday 10th March at the Carrington House Hotel in Bournemouth the event promises to be informative for parents and professionals alike.
The conference will provide participants with practical ideas and give an opportunity to network with people who have an interest in the subject. Attendees on the day will get to hear Dean Beadle, an adult with Aspergers Syndrome, discuss his ‘Life in Education’ and how he developed from a problem child to an A Grade student. Professor Rita Jordan will then be discussing ‘Practice, Quality and Research in the education of those on the autism spectrum’. Afternoon workshops include ‘Sensory and Arousel issues’, ‘Mind the Gap’ – empowering schools and families to work together’, and ‘Good Practice in Inclusive Education’.
