The Richmond Group takes on the ultimate challenge for Julia’s House

On 31 July an intrepid team of 16 Richmond Group staff will be taking on the ultimate fundraising challenge when they climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise vital funds for Julia’s House children’s hospice.

Following a gruelling training regime including a 70km, 5-day hike, which ended with a 15km night hike by torch light, and hours of acclimatization on an altitude simulator, the team is ready to take on their personal target of raising £500 - £1000 each for Julia’s House.

Mount Kilimanjaro is situated in Tanzania and is about 340km south of the equator. It is both the tallest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest free-standing mountain.  The highest point is at 19340ft and it is here that the Richmond Group team will celebrate their success after 8 days of challenging climbing in extreme altitude.

The Richmond Group is a loyal supporter of the charity, as Julia’s House Corporate Fundraiser Caroline Gogan explains: “The Richmond Group is exceptionally supportive of Julia’s House, the employees’ commitment and enthusiasm in helping to raise vital funds is incredible.  They have raised over £347,000 for us since the beginning of our partnership in 2007.  They take responsibility in helping where support is much needed and have a great deal of fun at the same time; we wish all the team well for their challenge climbing Kilimanjaro.”

Mourad Malki from the Richmond Group said: “Climbing Kilimanjaro is something fun, exciting, and challenging, and there are no better companions than the Richmond Group employees, including James Benamor our CEO. There was never any doubt that we would be doing this climb for Julia’s House, it offers more than just a place for the children to play, it’s a place of development, fun, education, respite and release. The support doesn’t just end with the children; it stems to the mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters and the staff. We understand how important every penny raised is to this amazing charity.”
