Policy

Policy Development

Dorset Chamber of Commerce & Industry strives to develop policy through government consultation, business surveys, policy campaigns and ministerial lobbying. This helps raise the profile in government and in the media those issues central to the interests of its Members and the local business community.

Our Premier Partner Relationship Manager feeds key policy information received from the British Chamber of Commerce and other sources to Dorset Chamber Council Members and membership. Chamber Membership consists of a broad cross-section of local businesses in terms of both size and sector.

Lobbying

By effectively communicating our policy positions to those in power or with influence, through correspondence, briefings and media statements, Dorset Business aims to influence the process outcome in favour of its members.

Dorset Chamber strives to be “the voice of Dorset” the Chamber also adds its voice to the lobbying activity of South West and South East Chambers of Commerce and the British Chamber of Commerce.

Our most recent lobbying success was where Dorset Chamber and its Members helped lobby Government into agreeing to the much needed Weymouth Relief Road prior to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Committees

The Chamber’s views are informed by a number of committees and working groups. The terms of reference and minutes of the last meeting can be found under each committee heading apart from our Board and Council meetings where this information is confidential.
